American Sign Language (ASL) as a Foreign Language

We at ESU recognize the various service and educational delivery needs of districts, students and teachers. It is because of this, that we have created our unique Hybrid eServices! The Hybrid e-service model provides direct, real-time support for professionals. These services combine the best features of in-district, classroom, and student consultation sessions with the convenience and advantage of virtual support and training, all with our highly qualified NJDOE certificated staff who specialize in all areas offered.

Our American Sign Language (ASL) 101 and 102 Hybrid High School courses combine the best features of in-class teaching with the advantages of online learning. These hybrid services offer a structured online learning management system with assignments and due dates, as well as weekly video conferencing with our NJDOE Certified Teacher of ASL. These meetings encompass individual mentoring sessions and *traditional face-to-face whole classroom instruction. Hybrid courses provide engaging interactions between the instructor and students, both online and in the classroom. Students participate in individual assignments, group work, and whole class activities regardless of the instructional medium used. The curriculum meets all NJ state and ACTFL world-readiness standards for learning languages. Our ASL Hybrid High School course supports college and career readiness while also meeting foreign/world language high school graduation requirements.

*Number of weekly traditional face-to-face classroom instruction differs per county served
